The legendary dunes of Asandir are said to bury anything that comes to exist there, and archaeologists from the college do not dispute this. The remains of an entire ancient race that once dominated this region was discovered buried here, a set of mysterious pyraminds and city ruins uncovered after being lost for untold millenium. Graves and tombs have been unsealed that were full of riches - and death. Soon after the tomb of an ancient king was cracked open, the rise of a protective new order of tall humanoids appeared and chased off much of the elven, human, and dwarven investigations into the places. Mysterious blends of dogs, cats, birds, and other creatures melded with human forms wielding strange powers, but they seem limited to the sites which were uncovered.
Tae'mun Rae
The lost city of Tae'mun Rae is the buried remains of some mighty but lost civilization. Now partially uncovered, major portions of the site are claimed by the notoriously deadly avatars, macabre hybrids of animal and man who seem to protect the ruins from further exploration and plundering.
Camp Talhourne
Named for the famous dwarven archaeologist, Professor Anberius Talhourne, who founded the first explorations into Tae'mun Rae, Camp Talhourne now serves as the only taste of civilization on the southern half of the continent. It is more than simply a camp, but not quite a city or town, with several small buildings built of sandstone and a larger number of tents and huts surrounding them. Merchants seeking to trade with those brave enough to venture into the ruins await here, and several small taverns can be found to help supply and feed them.
