A tropical paradise spread out across a number of islands of varying size, the Canary Islands were long a secret to all but the most adventurous of sailing vessels. The islands are home to an indigenous population of humans with dark skin and hair, island inhabitants who for the most part know little or nothing at all of the world beyond the waves surrounding the islands. Both of the two main islands has a small town, with docks and services to welcome ships. Plantations are common here, growing many of the more exotic harvestable goods to be found in the world.
Yeechie
Yeechie is the largest of the Canary Islands, and the most prosperous, with the city of Danibe centrally located upon it. Yeechie is reknowned for its banana, sugar, and cotton plantations, and a thriving slave market, if not quite the equal of that to be found in Tidehaven.
Danibe
Located near the center of the island named Yeechie, Danibe is a small island city dominated by indigenous island folk, though goodly portions of the populations are actually enslaved or indentured plantation workers.
The Pale Setting
The Pale Setting in Danibe is the inn of highest repute. Located directly adjacent to the wharf, it caters to the ship captains and their mates, leaving the lesser establishments down the street to serve the dregs. Night and day, the finest rum and ale can be found here, as well as a hot meal - should you have the coin to afford it.
The place is run by a kindly innkeeper named Perriman, his daughter and cook Mariette, and his two sons, Samuel and Clyde.
House of the Appointed
The local chapter of the The Appointed merchants and traders guild, the House serves nothing but its own interests. It will protect its members and their business, and seek to ruin any others. Those who fall out of favor with the Appointed generally regret it. The House has a number of large warehouses on the western outskirts of town, space for members to store goods that await shipping or purchase.
The Shamans
Scattered among the islands are no small number of shamans, males and females alike who practice tribal mysticisms and magicks. These medicine folk are responsible for healing the sick, tending to rituals, and many practice voodoo and macabre versions of alchemy.
Hibanook
The other major island of the Canaries is Hibanook, which focuses on exotic hardwoods and bamboo thanks to a large mix of jungle and deep forest ringed on three sides by low mountain ranges which helps to keep a steady moisture trapped on the island. Outside of the town of Prassa, settlements are typically camps, farms and plantations, and small localized tribes lost in the depths of the jungle.
Prassa
The town of Prassa has little to recommend it; small and dirty, its sole reason for existence is to provide for and support trade into and out of the island. There is only a single cobblestone-paved road from the Hold of the Appointed to the harbor, and all businesses located along this route are owned by members of the Appointed. The town is sometimes under siege by the natives from the jungles who seem to dislike the presence of the Appointed, thus a crude wall of spiked logs has been erected around the outer perimeter.
Hold of the Appointed
The Hold in Prassa empowers all business on Hibanook and Prassa; without it, the town would surely collapse and be decimated by the jungle natives. Within its walls lies the only real pleasures of modern society to be found on the entire island; those niceties are reserved for members and their guests, and do not come cheaply even to them. The Hold maintains an extensive battalion of guards to defend against the natives who regularly come against the Appointed there.
Traya
A volcanic island between Yeechie and Prassa, Traya is forbidden ground to all save for the indigenous Trayan tribes - fierce dark-skinned warriors who are talented with both spear and longbow. Ships that stray too close are sometimes subject to encounters with the Trayans who will ride out on their sleek catamarans to engage. Foolish sailors will laugh at such sights, for those craft are deceptively fast and the Trayans excellent sailors themselves who will quickly board and attack. Little is known of the inhabitants here, as even the best of Sihirisium have been repelled from exploring its depths, but the volcano at its center known as The Mount has been simmering for many years, issuing a slender column of smoke high into the sky.
The Mount
The open maw of The Mount can be seen by anyone daring or foolish enough to approach the island of Traya, with the slender grey column of smoke drifting up far into the sky from its peak. Dark rumors persist of ancient races living far beneath the surface, of which Traya is but one entrance to... but so few have ventured here and returned to civilization that these rumors hardly seem believable...
