The Khalvir Range in the northeast of the Heatherstead Mountains is some of the most unforgiving terrain in all of Eluaria. Sheer peaks, gaping chasms, and freezing year-round temperatures make for this a treacherous land for anyone. Add in the vicious, territorial creatures who hunt these lands for survival and a clan of dwarves rumored to be driven insane from lead poisoning, and you have one of the most dangerous places adventurers could consider exploring.
Hearth's Keep
Unlike Rouguemont Castle in the West, Hearth's Keep is readily visible from the outside, with thick, sturdy stone walls of gray granite rising up out of the natural stone to form walls, towers, and other structures that only the likes of dwarven stonemasons could achieve. This is the home of the Ironhammer clan of dwarves, though precious little is known of them. Rumors persist that the dwarves here were driven insane by lead poisoning long ago and that insanity broke their clan off from the rest of the dwarves in Heatherstead, isolating them to the harshest region of the mountains, but the source of those rumors is questionable - and likely the Firebeard clan is the source. Perhaps there is some shred of truth at the core of it, but none argue that they exist. The problem is in reaching to them.
