Tidehaven is three things in one - it is an island off the east coast of Ostia, which is technically a barony of the kingdom. The city on the island shares the same name, home to pirates, smugglers, and never-do-wells far and wide. There are few rules in Tidehaven, even with the oversight of a baron living near the highest point in the city, and corruption rules over all. Piracy and trade are the focus of most who dwell here, but there is a large supporting portion of the island that pays little attention to the city life or pirates or sailors at all.
Siren's Song
Poised in the heart of the market district, Siren's Song is one of the favored destinations of sailors of any stature who dock in the nearby harbor. A long wide common room on the main floor is filled with sailors, wenches, and even some locals who find the sticky floors, copious amounts of ale, and drunken sailors appealing, while rooms are for rent on the second story overhead with the caveat that nobody's going to get quiet until well into the night. A pleasant stone balcony on the side of the building provides a quieter alternative with table service and an excellent view over the marketplace and the harbor beyond.
Blood House Arena
The Blood House arena where many a good man has come to die! (feel free to start up a fight!) Those guilty of a crime may be forced to fight until they earn their freedom in coin through blood, those with a hunger for violence may choose to enter the arena of their own free will. The crowd doesn't care how you get there, they just want to see blood!
Open Tide Auction
A place where all things are bought and sold, intelligent life included. Being the nearly-lawless place that Tidehaven is, it is one of the few places left in the civilized world to openly accept slavery, and the Open Tide Auction settled between the harbor's wharfs and the open markets is where trade in this activity is done. Slave scows dock at the far end of the wharves due to their smell, and slaves are marched from there up to the auction stands. There have been several petitions to the baron to put an end to this barbaric practice, but it continues still.
The Worthless Sword
Hidden within the winding roads and back allies lies a single white brick store front by the name The Worthless Sword. Inside lies hundreds of swords, axes, lances and even armor. And perhaps if the owner takes a like to you, a legendary item.
The Mad Lotus
One of many dens of debauchery to be found in the city of Tidehaven, The Mad Lotus can be found to the east of the arena in the slums district, a sprawling two-storied lodge with two wings. Anything with a price can be had here, wine, rum, and even narcotics. Upstairs the company of warm flesh can be had if the price is right, and gaming operations run day and night. Rumors abound that the place has access to tunnels that spread the length of the island, but few can vouch for the truth of this.
