The inhospitable wastelands of Qoth are home to a surprising number of 'monster' species to be found in Eluaria, but since there are few means of interacting between these tribes and the 'civilized' nations of Eluaria, it is unclear as to how some of these creatures venture out into the rest of the world. No ships of any quality are known to trade with any of the tribes of Qoth, and what few portals that are to be found are of a one-way variety - one desperate or foolish enough to want to come here can do so, but you will likely need to find another method of travel to return. Qoth is harsh and uninviting to all but the most durable of races, with searing heat over sun-baked earth and packed clay, crevices, mountains, and plateaus.
Ogre Mounds of Tarn
Tarn is home to the ogres of Eluaria: tremendously strong giantkin who wander the wastes and make prey of anything unlucky enough to be caught by them. The mounds themselves are a series of hills that have been carved out, the insides used to build a series of low earthen walls all around the hills. Within the warrens beneath the hills, the ogre society, such as it is, exists. Led by a mysterious group of elementalist shaman who are infamous in their control of fire and earth, the ogres of Tarn are a fearsome group that is unwelcoming to most visitors from the 'civilized' portions of the world: humans, elves, and dwarves and races like them are looked upon more as varieties of food than intelligent creatures worthy of associating with. Danger! Ogres are nine or ten feet or taller, and typically weigh a quarter ton or more. The ogres seemingly do little industry of their own aside from practice shamanesque magicks and some robust stonework, including gemstones.
Trollshell
As indicated in the name itself, Trollshell is home to the Trollic race in Qoth. Tall, lean, and fast, trolls compete with ogres, orcs, and goblins for the scant resources to be found in the Qoth wastes. Trollshell is a stone hold set into a low plateau in the wastes where the trolls of Qoth originate. They hold claim over a wide berth of land around the mesa plateau, and regard the top of the plateau as being sacred ground that is punishable by death to stand on. The trolls are ruthless creatures but rarely have the mind for ruling over other races - they would rather eat them.
Ragscar Warren
Often referred to simply as 'The Warren', this goblin hold is the chiefmost of all goblin sanctuaries in the world of Eluaria. The goblins have a king here, but he rules over precious little outside of the warren itself and the goblins that inhabit it. While goblin warrens can be found scattered all over Qoth and indeed even elsewhere in Eluaria, none can match Ragscar for size or power. The goblin warrens here begin in a deep chasm in the wastes, where they have burrowed a maze of tunnels and caves into both sides as their numbers have grown. The industrious goblins have learned to cultivate their primary food source - rats - in large herds, and specialize in several giant varieties that can be used as mounts.
Droskyn Fortress & the City of Khonam
Droskyn Fortress and the surrounding city of Khonam are the decaying remains of what was once a mighty fortress and city of the 'civilized races' of Eluaria - once upon a time, elves, humans, and dwarves held this mighty bastion against the hordes from the surrounding wastes. Few now know how that fortress finally fell. Stories speak of betrayal and deceit, but it is unlikely anyone will ever know the true story of how it fell into ruin. Now it is home to the dominant race of Qoth - the orcs. Nearly as plentiful as the goblin hordes, the orcs proliferate quickly and are much stronger, sturdier, and smarter than their lesser cousins. The orc lord resides in the depths of the Droskyn ruins, and the city of Khonam thrives under his rule, bringing an unexpected unity to a land that lacks it anywhere else. Khonam is more tolerant than the rest of Qoth, as well: there is some mixing of races here, including some humans and even dwarves. Elves are generally frowned upon, but even they have been spotted from time to time here. The fortress remains an impressive and formidable point, situated on top of a small mount with its back to the mountains and overlooking the city of Khonam out into the expanse of the wastes to the south. Guarded by nearly limitless hordes of orcs and other monster races, it would take an impressive assault to reclaim - if possible at all.
