There are countless mines burrowing deep into the many mountain ranges to be found in Heatherstead, but few are as successful as these. Not all of the mines to be found in Heatherstead are in current operations, and not all are owned by the dwarves. All civilized races need access to the ores which are to be found in plentiful supply deep within the mountains here.
Felshroud Mine
Located in some of the farthest reaches of the Khalvir Range lies the near-mythical Felshroud Mine. These ancient mines were once the source for mithril and platinum until the mine was overrun by a group of air elementals that made mining operations difficult. Some say these are the richest mines in the world - but their remote location in the unforgiving north and the rampaging elementals combine to prevent normal operations from resuming.
King's Ransom
This reknowned mine is the strongly guarded property of the Firebeard Clan, the source of untold riches in gemstones of virtually every kind. The dwarves defend this mine with their lives and some of their most well-trained pets, including wyverns, small, agile dragons that are trained to defend the mines to the death.
Dunder Eye Mine
Dunder Eye Mine is said to have been originally forged by the dwarves, but it has since been left open to anyone who seeks to try their luck. Tucked into a ring of cliffs just south of the Voldur Peaks, a small encampment outside the mine serves as the workplace for many miners and smiths who work the mined ore into ingots before selling it or transporting it off to Miller Dale in the east or Aismir in the west. The camp is dirty and full of men bent on their professions, most who come and go as their fortunes change. Few would aspire to a life living in such squalid conditions.
