The principle range forming the southern edge of the Heatherstead Mountains is called the Voldur Peaks. Soaring high into the clouds, most of the peaks are capped with snow throughout the year, and only the most durable of creatures can survive this climate in the dead of winter. It is beneath these peaks where the dwarven Firebeard clan reside in Rouguemount Castle in an enormous cavern beneath the heights.
Rouguemount Castle
Buried deep within the Voldur Peaks of the Heatherstead Mountains is Rouguemount Castle, home to the Firebeard clan and King Bravumir Firebeard. The dwarves here are reclusive and shun most visitors unless invited, but will not generally leave turned-away visitors to die in the peaks. The entrance to the castle is built into the side of a mountain and a long, wide carved tunnel lined with many defensive fortifications descends down into the depths to reach the castle itself. The dwarves here rule over all of Heatherstead, including Aismir, Elsir Vale, and Miller Dale, with only the Ironhammer clan in the northeast refusing to acknowledge them.
Bracklewhyte
Bracklewhyte is a mountain village settled outside of the underground Rouguemont Castle. A road leads from the village down into Rouguemont Castle buried in the mountains to the east, and then beyond deeper into the mountains toward Rubygleam and the Khalvir Range. Another road runs west down out of the mountains, through the Steep Wood and into Aismir, and paths east and south can be found from here as well for anyone adventurous enough for trying to reach Miller Dale by land. Bracklewhyte is known for their sheep and sturdy mountain rams, which some dwarven warriors prize as warrior mounts.
White Water Hot Springs & Spa
Located in a bowl in the Voldur Peaks, the White Water hot springs & spa resort is said to have special healing properties. Though off the beaten path it is well worth the trek. Once there, one is greeted with warm robes and invited into a building that smells of fresh incense. There are candles lit and a large hearth on the far side of the room. In the middle is a long table and chairs. The resort offers a limited supply of foods (usually freshly caught deer or goat, jerky, dried fruits, nuts, and seeds and hot breads.) The hot springs themselves are branched off from the main building into private groupings of 2-3 hotsprings though there is one communal pool that everyone can enjoy at once if they wish. This resort is strictly a no hanky panky resort!
